The Asociación De Productores Organicos Nuevo Futuro is an organization made up of 180 coffee-growing families from the municipalities of El Tambo, La Vega, Timbio, Cajibio and Santander de Quilichao, department of Cauca-Colombia. The producers and their families manage the cultivation of coffee in a sustainable way, earning the Fairtrade, RFA and Organic certifications. This has allowed them to export the product to the United States and establish strategic alliances with national buyers.
The organization has been advancing gender equity processes, which includes training youth and women on topics such as the role of women and youth in coffee growing, extension and rural development, quality, coffee cupping, home gardens, and microprocessors. They also exercise leadership in their community, which has allowed them to participate in the positions of directive council within the organization.
