Gender Equity Index

The Gender Equity Index (GEI) is a free diagnostic that evaluates the readiness of an organization to serve women and men, given its systems, standard operating procedures, practices, and capacities. It maps interdependence across the origin team, linking human resources policy to balanced staffing, finance to gender-responsive budgeting, and training and Monitoring & Evaluation to equitable service delivery. The GEI builds the capacity of implementing teams alongside farmer-focused work and informs Gender Equity Development Plans to guide action and investment.

Advancing Gender Equity with the Better Together Workshop

Better Together Workshops

The Better Together Workshops equip organizations to integrate the Gender Equity Index (GEI) into their operations through practical Gender Equity Development Plans (GEDPs). From 2023-2025, the program engaged over 100 participants from 30+ organizations in eight countries, resulting in targeted plans that are reaching thousands of farming households and advancing women’s equitable participation. Leading companies and producer organizations-including ECOM, SUCAFINA, GIZ, HRNS, and USAID-have already applied this proven approach.

The Executive Edition of the workshop brings senior leaders into the process, helping them move from awareness to advocacy by embedding gender equity as a strategic business priority across their operations.
