The CAPCKI cooperative was founded in 2013 by seven farmers concerned with community development under the name of IDPC “Initiative for the Development of Coffee Producers.” During this period, the cooperative collected parchment coffee treated in the ordinary way by its members and sold it. In 2016, the “IDPC” cooperative took the name of CAPCKA, and the coffee process changed; all members put cherry coffees together, and they were treated in a semi-washed way. In early 2019, the CAPCKA cooperative became CAPCKI “Agricultural Cooperative of Kivu Coffee Producers.” During this same year, the CAPCKI cooperative changed its processing processes, from semi-washed coffee to fully-washed coffee.
